Explorer Scouts (14-17)

The Phoenix unit is one of 5 Explorer units in Woking Scout District and we are open to all members of the Scout association aged 14 – 18 years old.

We meet in 1st Byfleet Scout group Headquarters on Tuesday nights and offer an action packed programme throughout the year. Our recent activities have included Snowboarding and Scuba taster sessions, Climbing and Abseiling, Canoeing and Kayaking, Camping and Survival Skills, Wintercamp in January, Night Hikes, Building and sleeping in Bivouacs, Lightweight Camping skills competitions and more….

We also join up with the other units on a regular basis for Camps, Competitions and fun nights as well as some great Expeditions such as our recent Dartmoor trip, which included Caving, Rock climbing and Hiking in fantastic surroundings. The Brecon Beacons is another regular feature on the District Calendar with all the Explorers completing their Duke of Edinburgh Expedition requirements by camping and hiking across the beautiful Welsh National parkland.

So whether you are an existing Scout or somebody completely new to the movement, if you have enthusiasm, commitment and a sense of fun, then the Phoenix Unit could be just what you are looking for…

If you are interested in joining us, or just need a bit more information, then contact Roy Thompson our District Explorer Scout Commissioner at: explorers@woking.scouts.host and he will be pleased to answer your questions.

You can also see some of the things we get up to across the District here at the Woking Scouts website.

If you are aged 18+ and are reading this with a view to helping as a potential Leader or Unit Helper then drop Roy an email and he will be happy to discuss the options available.

Be Prepared

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
